Guest Chef Demonstrations at the 2013 Sun Valley Harvest Festival
As part of the 2013 Sun Valley Harvest Festival, there will be Guest Chef Demonstrations on Saturday, September 21st from 9:30am to 5:00pm at Carol's Dollar Lodge. You can “learn the latest in cooking techniques, food trends and culinary secrets” at this event, not to mention sample some delicious food and wine made by world-renown chefs. Some of this year’s topics include "Cooking for your Libido," "From the Restaurant to Your Table" and "How to Jump Start Your Morning." Below is a list of the Guest Chefs and the mouth-watering menus they will be preparing on Saturday!
9:30am Wake Up Your Morning Routine
Tina Ruggiero, takes you on a delicious journey to discover new recipes that will jump-start your day. Quick, super-nutritious and totally irresistible, Tina's recipes include Orange-Infused Breakfast Couscous with Cherries and Dark Chocolate, Frittata with Red Potatoes, Kale and Parmigiano, Home-style Muesli with Kefir, Fruit and Pecans.
TAL RONNEN & SCOT JONES
11:00am Ancient Grains and Heirloom Vegetables
Learn from innovative celebrity vegan Chefs Tal and Scot from the ground breaking new West Hollywood Restaurant Crossroads as they take us back to our ancient roots by preparing Eggplant Caponata Over Toasted Buckwheat and Black Quinoa. It’s a gourmet vegan delight that you won’t want to miss!
12:30pm Buy Local, Cook Global
Chef Rodrigo Bueno from Rancho Pescadero in Baja, Mexico shows us how to spice up your local foods with an international flair. Bueno’s menu includes Local Goat Mexican Chorizo with Idaho Potatoes, Orange Zest & Pecan Cheese Tacos, with homemade tortillas, and Yellow Corn Cake with Pine Nuts “Rompope.”
2:00pm Sweet and Spicy: Unique Twists for Flavorful Baking
Let famed Chicago Pastry Chef Malika Ameen help take your baking to the next level with her demonstration presenting a delicious union of sweet temptations. Malika will be baking Bittersweet Chocolate Cardamom Torte with Blackberries.
4:00pm Pairing For Your Palate: The Art of Hors d’oeuvres and Wine
Impress your guests at your next cocktail party with these palate pleasers. Akasha from AKASHA restaurant in Los Angeles will be demonstrating the following pairings: Grass Fed Skirt Steak Skewers with Arugula Pesto with the Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet, Wild Mushroom Crostini with the North Star Merlot, and Bengalli Spiced Crackers With Local Cheese and Mango Chutney with the Eroica Riesling.
