Now that we have Sprung. . .
Sprung forward and lost an hour of sleep. There was some grumbling until I realized how much I love longer afternoons. Which I find sweet because there is more time to just do stuff. And while we all readjust, we have St. Patrick’s Day to look forward to. Now I know I am a bit early but I feel that this day—this awesome Irish holiday—is important and needs two weeks of attention. Just to cover the history, folklore, fun, and traditions alone will take some time—not including the recipes! So start wearing green early, keep a look out of what is going on around town and check out these traditionally Irish recipes (Personally, I can’t wait for the Apple's to Grumpy's parade!) Irish Soda Bread
It is a 'traditional' Irish bread because it is cheap and easy and everyone could make it without yeast. Even when there was famine.
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
1 pint sour cream
1 cup raisins
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease two 8x4 inch loaf pans.
Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add the eggs, sour cream and raisins and mix until just combined. Distribute batter evenly between the two pans.
Bake loaves at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) for 1 hour.

Well Lilly Maude, what a wonderful articles and fabu recipes!! I'll go through my recipe box and send you a couple to test. We've had a pretty warm winter so we still have cilanto in the garden. Last night Chip shucked some oysters and I put them in tequilla, chopped cilanto, and finely chopped white onion- very tasty. Now Lil, this Johnny sauce that Robert gave you the recipe for was one of your Gransister's standard recipes. It was printed in the 1962 Lake Providence cookbook but named Kum Bak dressing. Shame shame that those Tallulah-heads would steal an LP recipe! Stay warm-
