Sun Valley Heli-Skiing with Epic Quest

Sun Valley Heli-Skiing with Epic Quest

There is a faint whirring off in the distance. As the sound draws closer, hurricane-like winds begin to throw tiny ice crystals throughout the air. Suddenly deafened by the sound of rotor wash, the brain switches to its sense of smell and the immediate inundation of high-octane jet fuel sets in. Eyesight returns as the eye of the storm calms and you see a guide giving you the thumbs up to climb into the bird. Before you can process the surge of excited emotions, a sense of weightlessness followed by that oh-so-pleasing gravitational pull kickstarts the flow of adrenaline. It is then when you finally realize… you are in for one hell of a day of heli-skiing.

Here in the Wood River Valley, we’re fortunate to have access to some epic heli-skiing right in our backyard. No extensive travels days to remote destinations are needed to make your wildest dreams come true. The team over at Epic Quest has all your bases covered, providing access to three epic mountain ranges that we all drool over when gazing across the Valley from the top of Baldy. Take your pick from the Pioneer, Smokey or Boulder Ranges, with the help of Sun Valley Heli Ski, each of them is capable of making you feel like a kid again.

You are in good hands at Epic Quest. They’re stacked with a crew of the Valley’s (and the Ski Industry’s) finest guides, heaps of knowledge, state-of-the-art Mammut PULSE Barryvox avalanche transceivers and one beautiful, A-star helicopter ready to make your wildest skiing dreams come true. No matter the snow, weather or extenuating life circumstances Sun Valley Heli Ski will put you at ease and allow you to truly live in the moment.

I finally ponyed up this year and pulled the trigger to see what the whole gig was about. A good friend of mine, a fellow named Tim, our guide Pat and myself spent the better part of a day ripping untracked turns, smiling from ear to ear the entire time. It was a day that I will not soon forget. And neither will you. Now get out there.

For more information visit the Epic Quest website or give them a call at 208-622-3108.
