Charlotte Hemmings will be reading the part of Rachel Corrie in the one-woman play, "My Name is Rachel Corrie"

March: Is it spring, or is it still winter? Will shoots of green be emerging (as I saw in front of Mountain West Bank on Wednesday), or will it dump all night like it did on Monday? The month of conundrums is upon us in force. One day sunny, the next like a bad day in Oregon. Whatever Mother Nature’s mood, let our mood be constantly awaiting the next big exciting thing.

The weekend opens with some culture:

  • The NexStage theatre will present the one woman play, "My Name is Rachel Corrie," as a part of their ongoing Play Reading Series. It is the story of a 24-year-old Washington State girl who was killed by an Israeli bulldozer in the Gaza Strip while protesting the razing of Palestinian homes as part of the International Solidarity Movement. The play is derived from Corrie’s journals and emails and was compiled by the British actor, Alan Rickman. At NexStage, Charlotte Hemmings will be reading the part of Rachel Corrie The reading runs approximately 1 hour. The performance is free and open to the public, with complimentary wine and cookies as well.

  • Papa Hemi’s hosts live music acts this weekend, starting with The Mighty Shims on Friday. Head over for a beer, some garlic fries and live tunes. On Saturday, Freehand with Sheryll Mae Grace plays Papa’s. All shows start at 6:30 p.m. and are free.

  • Later on Friday night, Whiskey Jacques’ will host The Codi Jordan Band, which performed at the first annual Park City Roots Rock Reggae Fest. On Saturday at Whiskey Jacques’, look for Keyser Soze, an original ska/rocksteady sound with strong jazz and soul influences formed in 1998 in Reno. Both shows have $5 covers.

  • And on Sunday, one of the best parties of the winter will take place at The Community Library. Our Movable Feast is a culinary mystery party and fundraiser. It will feature four mystery-themed rooms with great decor and masterful food donated by several Valley gourmet restaurants, including Cristina's, Sego Restaurant, Il Naso and many many more. A silent auction will feature prizes that can be seen ahead of time at http://www.omf2010.blogspot.com/. Be on the look out for rooms themed around four books: “Roux the Day” (with beignets from the Donuts’ Lodge) and “Dying for Chocolate,” which will include lots of chocolate tasters from the likes of Rechuiti Chocolates, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, the Sun Valley Chocolate Foundry and Voges Chocolates.
