Ketchum's 9/11 Memorial Ceremony
To commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9/11/01, the Wood River Valley’s firefighters conducted a Memorial Ceremony on Sunday evening. The ceremony took place in Ketchum Town Square with representatives from the Emergency Response units of Sun Valley, Ketchum, Hailey, Bellevue and Wood River. Photographer and ceremony attendee, Nils Ribi said "It proved to be a somber and moving experience. They showed their respect for the victims of 9/11 and in particular their fallen brethren. The depth of commitment to our community by our Emergency Responders, who put their lives on the line day in and day out, is outstanding, as evidenced when several had to leave the Ceremony early to attend to a wild land fire in Indian Creek which started during the event."
All proceeds from the event went to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
Several other ceremonies throughout the Valley honored the anniversary including a Company of Fools presentation of the 9/11-inspired play, "The Guys".
