Chairs for Chair-ity

Chairs for Chair-ity

The "game table" - a contributed coffee table.

The NexStage’s 2nd annual Chair-ity event opened last Thursday with their champagne and hors’d orves Artists reception. Chairs for Chair-ity was conceived last fall as the Theatre tried to raised funds to replace their seating. Local artists were asked to transform recycled chairs into original works of art. These pieces were then auctioned off to help support the NexStage. The response was fantastic and so this year the Theater, in their continued efforts to raise funds to update the Theater, expanded to include tables for artists to re-design.

The party was a great success, boasting over 20 contributed works of art, decadent appetizers and dangerous cocktails. The Theater was transformed into a gallery space where patrons could enjoy and then bid on the pieces. Pianist, Paul Tillotson, set the scene with fabulous music— it was a great event all around and exciting to be a part of. I hope any of you creative or crafty people out there will consider contributing to next year’s chair-ity event. The NexStage will provide a chair or table for you to transform.

The silent auction for this years work is still being held online at www.nexstagetheatre.org. Bidding ends at midday on Monday, October 18th. For more information about contributing, bidding, or buying raffle tickets to win the “Queen of Love” chair and ottoman, contact the NexStage Theatre at 208-726-9124.
