- Sun Valley Center presents its first big concert of the season on Saturday night, and it’s a gimlet of event. Salsa Celtica is the 11-man band famed for championing—and no doubt inventing—a fusion of salsa music with traditional Celtic sounds played on an eclectic mix of instruments that includes brass, bagpipes, fiddles and congas. Salsa Celtica’s stunning combination of unusual repertoire and hard-driving energy makes it one of the most exciting groups on the world music circuit today, said Kristine Bretall, of the Sun Valley Center.
Tickets to Salsa Celtica are just $20 and $5 for kids 12 and under, and are available at www.sunvalleycenter.org or call (208) 726.9491 ext. 10 or stop by The Center in Ketchum. Gates open at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 18 at Hop Porter Park and the music starts at 7 p.m. Pick up a picnic at Atkinson’s’ Market before the concert or buy food and beverages (beer, wine, water, sodas) from local vendors onsite, and please, leave your high-backed chairs and pets at home.
