The Curious Case of the Bike Valet, Part II

The Curious Case of the Bike Valet, Part II

Can we just try some lovin’? I’m feeling it, are you? Anyone who thinks there’s naught to do here—that Sun Valley is aging—sit up and take notice. Dig—does your bike have a valet? Does your baby have sauce?

Thursday July 16th

  • The first of the summer concert series in Elkhorn Village will feature G. Love & Special Sauce tonight, Thursday, July 16. The venue will open at 6 pm. Pick up your tickets at Atkinson’s Market, or www.elkhornconcerts.com. Tickets cost $37.50 plus tax or $100 plus tax for the series of three concerts.

Park at the Sun Valley Horseman's Center on Sun Valley Road or grab a Mountain Rides bus anywhere from Bellevue to Elkhorn with stops in-between as well as return trips after the show.

Here’s my favorite aspect: Bike Valet will check in your fancy cruisers, mountain bikes and rusty beaters at a cost of just $1. And just for partaking in this stupendous marriage of luxury and thrift, anyone using the valet will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a new cruiser.

As for the music, The Philadelphia-based Sauce plays a groovy kind of hip-hop with a laid-back blues touch and some cool overtones of classic R&B. The band features Garrett Dutton (G. Love), Jeffrey Clemens on drums, Mark Boyce on keyboards, and Timo Shanko on bass. Prepare to dance.

  • Elsewhere in Ketchum, Iconoclast Books will host an Open Mic Night tonight at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come read, sing, play, juggle or impersonate a Bike Valet.

  • And at the south end of town, Papa Hemi’s hosts Cow Says Moo tonight from 6:30-9:30 p.m. and on Saturday, July 18, Fred Crabtree will play the Ketchum gateway hotspot.

Friday, July 17th

  • On Friday night, those in a more virtuoso mode can head to the Sun Valley Pavilion for Barrage, billed as “a high-octane fiddle fest.” The high-strung fiddlers will play a mix of Celtic, jazz and world music flavors. The show is at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 17 and tickets are $20 per person, www.sunvalleypavilion.com.

Saturday, July 18th

  • But lest we ignore our fabulous weather and the thrills it brings, the Friends of the Hailey Public Library Garden Tour will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18 in the Della View area of Hailey, the gardens are lush and creative due to proximity to the Big Wood River.
