There has been a flurry of recent events where guests are required to tipple one or two. From benefits to birthdays to concerts and even wakes, there has been no shortage of beer and vodka available. But what one really craves on a warm, bright summer evening is crisp bubbly, or a dry, herby, fruit-forward quaff—something that I could never afford and yet desperately desire. Something like a Spring Mountain 2002 Elivette. To steal a phrase from my fellow blogger: Yum! Fortunately, and because I intend on attending the Sun Valley Wine Tasting on Saturday, I may actually find my Elivette.
- The 28th annual Wine Auction Gala pours all weekend.
The event is held to raise funds in support of the Center’s educational arts programming and community outreach. The Auction weekend includes Saturday’s Wine tasting at Dollar Mountain from 12:30-3 p.m. (with more than 120 wineries) followed by a hosted wine picnic on the beautiful, tortured plot of land formerly known as the Warm Springs Ranch golf course from 6-9 p.m.
Special at this year’s Wine Auction is the Junior Patron Evening on Friday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m. The multi-course dinner will be served at The Elkhorn Supper Club.
The Gala Auction will be held tonight, Friday, at 5:30 p.m. at Dollar Mountain.
At the Saturday picnic, catch live music by the half-local, totally legit Americana band Ryebender from 6-9 p.m. (More on Ryebender here and here)
There is no parking at the picnic or tasting venues. A shuttle for the tasting will be across the street from the Sun Valley Ice Rink on Dollar Road and will run from 12:15-3:30 p.m. A shuttle for the Picnic will run from the new Sun Valley Center lot, across from the Post Office on Second Street in Ketchum from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Or ride a cruiser.
Ryebender will perform again at the Boiler Room in Sun Valley, Saturday, July 26, immediately following the Wine Auction Picnic, from 9:30 p.m.- 12:30 a.m.
Saturday, July 25
