A spate of rain and chilly temperatures has passed, and while it dampened (a lot) of last weekend’s many events it didn’t completely have its way. The symphony played on. The Sun Valley Arts & Crafts Festival painted itself out of a cool corner, and the valley’s many additional events also persevered. And why not? There are only a few weeks left in our precious summer season, so get out and enjoy them now that fair summer weather has returned.
Monday, August 10th
- Today, author and philanthropist Jacqueline Novogratz will discuss global poverty and her book, “The Blue Sweater: Bridging the Gap between Rich and Poor in an Interconnected World.” The event will be at 4 p.m. at the Community Library in Ketchum. The free talk is presented by the Sun Valley Center for the Arts
Tuesday, August 11th
- 7 p.m. Ketch ‘Em Alive will feature Dikki Du and Zydeco Crew playing hot Zydeco music from Louisiana. The opening act will be Aaron Baker and Friends. The free Ketch ‘Em Alive concerts are held weekly at Forest Service Park at First Street and Washington Avenue in Ketchum.
Wednesday, August 12th
- A few more concerts will turn up later this week. On Wednesday, Aug. 12, a benefit for the Wood River Fire and Rescue will be held at the Back Alley Party at the Wicked Spud in Hailey, with music by Whiskey Burnin’.
Thursday, August 13th
- Drive by Truckers will play in Elkhorn.
Saturday, August 15th
- The Sun Valley Center will present the summer sounds of Donavon Frankenreiter.
