Sun Valley Summer Music Festivals: July 2012
Although there’s always a lot happening around here in July, this year looks like one the best---especially if you love live music. There are three upcoming music festivals in Sun Valley not to be missed, whether you want to boogie or beebop to bluegrass, reggae or electronic. Here’s the breakdown:
The Sun Valley Shakedown Music Festival will be gettin’ bluesy on July 7th, highlighting JJ Grey and Mofro and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band with an official Après Party with DJ Logic at Whiskey Jacques. Tickets are available at Atkinson’s Market or at their website. Recommended: Sh*t-kickers or dancing shoes (or bare feet).
The Marley in the Mountains Festival, a Mountain Niceness Production, will be presenting Grammy award-winning reggae band Toots and the Maytals at Atkinson’s Park in Ketchum on July 12th. Recommended: Tattered Jimmy Cliff t-shirt and something organic.
The Music and Arts Showcase Sun Valley (MASSV) will be lighting up the Simplot Lot with lasers and fog machines on July 13th and 14th. Headliners include Ghostland Observatory and Beats Antique, with intros by Brother Ali, Boombox, Adventure Club and more. Recommended: Glow sticks, cyber goggles or anything furry.
All of the festivals recommend camping and bike-riding to save on space and money. For camping info, visit here. Be sure to check back with us for photos and coverage of the events!
