Who, What, Where, Now!
Smells like Earth Day
Keeping it fresh is always the challenge in life. Yes, even here in the mountains, where winter turned to summer, which has just now turned back to a rainy spring. In this Valley, we all want our powder fresh, our trails, sky and air as clean as can be. So we pull out our bikes and ride rather than drive. We grow our own vegetables where possible and take our hard earned dollars to the farmers’ markets and to Idaho’s Bounty, a regional online farmers’ co-op. We believe inspiring art and good food go hand in hand. Well, really food and anything goes hand in hand, right? Take a look at what you can pair up for the rest of the week.
Thursday, April 22
- Join Idaho's Bounty at the Wood River YMCA at 6 p.m. for an Earth Day showing of “Fresh’’ a documentary that celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing our food system. Forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, they offer a practical vision of our food and our planet's future. “Fresh” addresses an ethos that has been sweeping the nation and is a call to action America has been waiting for. The film was directed by Ana Sophia Joanes, a Swiss documentary filmmaker whose work addresses pressing social issues through character-driven narratives.
There will be a short discussion and Q & A to follow with area farmers. As part of a community Earth Day celebration, Valley non-profits will be there with fun, educational activities for kids 8 and up. Children 7 and under are welcome with parental supervision. The YMCA child watch center will have extended hours during the film—open until 7:30 p.m.
