The Valley Club
With a bright palette, friends, family and a beautiful Sun Valley setting, Jaime Stoltz and Anthony Ekman wed this summer in a perfectly fun, cocktail party-like, dream wedding planned by Taylor Sturges of Taylor’d Events. The Valley Club provided a stunning scene and perfect, heavy-appetizer menu, Hillary Maybery captured all the joyous moments and friends and family provided the love-filled, party atmosphere. For more details from the lovely couple’s perfect day, read on and make sure to take heed of Jaime’s advice, “Enjoy every moment.”
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
Both of us are from Boise, but currently live in Portland.
WHAT ARE YOUR OCCUPATIONS?
The bride, Jaime, is a marketing manager for Castor & Pollux Natural PetWorks and the groom, Anthony, is in the US Coast Guard.
HOW DID YOU MEET?
We met through mutual friends in Boise.
HOW DID YOU GET ENGAGED?
Anthony proposed in my apartment in Boise before taking me out to dinner at Chandler’s. He then arranged a surprise champagne toast with our friends and family at my parents’ house following dinner.
NUMBER OF GUESTS?
165 guests.
WEDDING THEME?
Colorful and fun.
SONG THAT YOU WALKED DOWN THE AISLE TO?
“Can’t Help Falling in Love” played by the Rock Strings Quartet.
FIRST DANCE?
“Feet Don’t Touch the Ground” by Brandon Jenkins.
GUEST FAVORS?
None – but we did have candy and bags for guests to help themselves to throughout the night.
HOW DID THE NIGHT END?
We stayed on the dance floor until the very end and then hopped in a car to go to the Sun Valley Lodge to stay the night. The Valley Club sent us home with dinner plates so we were able to try all the yummy food in the comfort of our room!
WHERE WAS YOUR HONEYMOON?
Kauai. We flew out of Hailey the next evening and spent six nights there.
WHAT MADE YOUR WEDDING SO SPECIAL?
The people made our wedding amazing. It started with our wonderful vendors who made the day so relaxed and fun for us, and then all of our wedding guests made for the perfect party. It felt like one big cocktail and dance party all night. We couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to surround us on our wedding day.
COLOR PALETTE?
Taylor Sturges, from Taylor’d Events, helped create the best color palette! I came to her with a shirt that was a coral/poppy red color that I loved, and she suggested we use an array of bright colors in that palette. She used pinks, reds, and oranges throughout the ceremony and reception sites, and also in the flower arrangements and bouquets.
HOW DID YOU DECIDE YOUR MENU?
We met once with the Valley Club and went over a few of our favorite foods and talked about how we envisioned “heavy appetizers” served throughout the night. Chef Mike really made our vision come together and the menu he came up with was outstanding.
D.I.Y PROJECTS?
My great friend, Kate Holgate, designed all of our invitations and ceremony programs. She did an amazing job!
BIGGEST CHALLENGE?
I thought planning a wedding from out of state would be hard, but our vendors made it so easy for us. We only made one trip to Sun Valley during planning! The biggest challenge was staying within our budget.
TIPS FOR SOMEONE PLANNING A SUN VALLEY WEDDING?
Pick vendors you trust and that you want to be around on your wedding day. Being able to relax, enjoy your wedding week, and spend time with your family and friends is so important. And, as cliché as it sounds, the day will fly by, so enjoy every minute!
