Rover’s Remedy

Dana Henry, owner of Equilibria Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine, is interested in helping people and their pets with her new line of herbal medicine, Rover's Remedy.

What originally brought you to Sun Valley?

When I was younger living in New York City and working in finance, I came out to Sun Valley for a vacation. I instantly fell in love with the people and the mountains, so decided to move cross-country and change careers. I left the Valley for three years to get my graduate degree in Oriental medicine - acupuncture and Chinese herbs. As soon as I got my license, I moved back to Valley and opened an office in Hailey and a clinic in Twin Falls. I just recently joined the staff at St. Luke's Medical Center as an on-call acupuncturist.

Tell us about Rover's Remedy, and your inspiration for creating the product?

Last December, Rover came down with a bad cough. Every time we’d go outside for a ski or snowshoe, his hacking cough would get worse. I thought, wait a minute, I am an herbalist and have a Chinese herbal pharmacy right here at home, why don’t I give Rover some herbs. So I made him a formula similar to what I would have made for one of my patients with those symptoms and gave him a smaller dose based on his weight and build. Needless to say, the herbs worked! Rover’s cough cleared up in just a few days.

I mentioned this story to my good friend Ken, an avid dog lover. I told him I was thinking of making a few formulas to try and sell at the local pet store and vets’ office. Ken said, “Good idea, but I have a better one: Don't limit it to Sun Valley—dogs everywhere can benefit from the formulas you create.” And that’s how the idea of Rover’s Remedy was born.

As a nationally licensed practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine and herbology, tell us what it has been like crossing over in the pet industry?

I love dogs and am glad to provide an alternative. I can't thank enough Dr. Heidi Woog of the Sun Valley Animal Center. She has been a great help and is very knowledgeable about herbal remedies for animals. Heidi brings together Eastern and Western medicine at her veterinary practice and has started using the Rover's Remedy line.

Rover is the classic Sun Valley Dog, what do you and your beautiful lab enjoy the most about living in the valley?

We both love all that Sun Valley has to offer! We skate ski, hike and take long walks along the river together. He is my best friend and makes everything fun. I have often said if I were as happy and grateful for everything in my life the way Rover is in his, life truly would be perfect!
