11/06/12Animal Shelter Sees Success of ProgramsNow celebrating its 30th year of operation, The Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley (ASWRV)in Hailey is starting to reap the rewards of its programs, including the No-Cost Community Spay/Neuter Clinics and Paws for Hunger pet food bank. The Shelter used to be plagued by the same issues of dog and cat overpopulation that many other shelters across the country continue to struggle with. The Shelter is now leveraging this success to increase its community impact and expand its outreach to under-served populations. 08/28/12Hikin' BuddiesEvery Wednesday beginning in June, the Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley brings a vanload of friendly, active dogs looking to go for a hike out Adam’s Gulch. The "Hikin' Buddies Program" has long been a tradition of the Animal Shelter and has made Adam's Gulch the place to be every Wednesday during the fall and summer months in Sun Valley. From 9:30am to 1pm the dogs are tethered, waiting to go, and once you sign in you are assigned a dog to take. Volunteers will get a dog for you, tell you a little bit about it and send you off for some fun. You are welcome to hike a shelter dog with your own dog, and we even have some that enjoy going for bike rides. If you have any questions about the dog, there are lots of trained... |
