Giving Thanks
Thanksgiving is a time of family, food and fun, but more importantly a time of reflection and thanks.
In a few days, Willie and I are off to Boston to visit family and friends for the holiday. I am over the moon excited about this trip and I’m afraid it will go by too quickly. I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving holiday. My mother-in-law makes the best apple pie on the planet. Luckily I will be home the day after Turkey Day for a piece! I will miss all my girls—dog girls and hen girls while we’re gone. Have I mentioned we are getting two (sometimes four) eggs a day? We are thrilled!
Along with all the courageous men and women serving our country, dogs are saving lives in Iraq and Afghanistan as well. They are being used to sniff out explosives and locate lost soldiers. But don’t worry; handlers are first in line to adopt any “washed out” dogs.
Since our community is so lab-loving, and since I work in the military industry at ESS (Eye Safety Systems), I thought these articles about dogs in the military from USA Today and Discovery News might be perfect for Fetch fans.

Please remember to give thanks this holiday season to our troops. Where would we be without them? While you are with your family, friends and pets this Thanksgiving, think about the soldiers that are away from their homes during the holiday. I can’t thank them enough for their service.
